3 funerals, 2 trips and 1 birthday in a little more than a week....

(9 Aug)Took the super long weekend (Singapore's 42th National Day) off and drove up with the usual suspect up to Melaka and Genting Highlands. On the first day of our journey, we received news from Singapore that Arthur/Steven's dad finally succumbed to old age....he was 92. Mum had to take the next morning bus alone whilst the rest of us cont northwards to Genting for 2 Nights. Been more than 15 years since i stayed at the Highlands; only rode up for coffee with bike pals couple of years back. Did all the unconventional stuff at Genting...

Back in Singapore(13Aug), while at 1st uncle's wake, received an sms from CJ that Kim Peng was killed in a bike accident during his weekend supper trip to GP....was in shocked for a while. Celebrated Dad's 68th Birthday at a vegetarian restaurant before attending Kim Peng's Wake...Barely 2 days later, i took the nite bus with Devin to his home town of Teluk Intan, some 80km from Ipoh. Stayed at his home and soaked in heaps of local vibes and cuisine during the 3 days there. Devin was down with fever most of the 3 days there....

Upon arrival in Singapore(18Aug); when i switched on my hp, learnt that Aishan's dad succumb to lung cancer and passed away one day earlier....everyone thought the mum was in poorer health...At the wake, she barely wanted to establish eye contact with me...she chatted with Jose most of the time...Wat a week...going back to work tomolo; to a brand new office at Botanical Gardens after temp housed at Bugis for almost 2 months.

Another example i can think of is the BIG LIE where we are being programmed that we can just go about our daily lives concentrating on the "Consumption bit" and ignore the Extraction, Production, Distribution that came before that and Disposal that comes after that....It's time we wake up from Truths like "Perceived Obsolescence" and "Planned Obsolescence" McCruelty: I'm Hatin' It--Learn More.

A Trilogy...a Full Circle?

In 3 days time, it's the lunar new year I came back a year ago where it started, it shall end... I was born a Chinese Buddhist, or what some may call a mahayana Buddhist. As i turned into an adult, i started exploring into earlier versions when it was still in India and Sri Lanka; or what some may call theravada Buddhism. And I've found solace in it as it kind of suits my fiery, impatient and egoistic character. Lately, i chance upon words of wisdom while watching; of all things, the latest rendition of a famous martial arts soap opera by Jin Yong, "Demi-Gods_and_Semi-Devils". I am going back to Crystal Jade Restaurants this evening to serve food; that's where i started off when i came back from india a year ago; the impending CNY double pay of course was a motivating factor, but i have other reasons for doing this... I also met a very promising young dude whilst serving behind the counter at Buddhist Library; i was over-zealous to say the least in tr
